Meet the Team

Riverbank State Park Figure Skating Club is one of the 'biggest' and 'diverse' competitive figure skating program in New York City, teaching young girls and boys to gain skating techniques through a well organized and defined weekend skating program from November through March.

Coaches


Head Coach-Abigail Ritch 


Abigail has been the head coach for Riverbank Skating Club for 7 seasons. She started skating when she was 4yrs old, which led her to being a top skater in her region and a multiple time gold medalist in USFSA. Her passion for skating led her to wanting to share her love of the sport with others! She has been coaching for 17yrs. In those years, she developed, from scratch, and directed an ice hockey program in Adelaide, South Australia, while gaining certification as a skating coach through New South Wales PSA. In her time in Australia, she took 8 students to Nationals. She has had several students pass Senior in both moves and free-style. She has taken students to competitions all over the country. She has choreographed individual and group skating programs for competition, edited music, designed costumes and props for shows and organized in-house competitions. She also was the venue Manager and Figure Skating Program Director at South Street Seaport, New York. She is also a PSA, USFSA and Safe Sport member in good standing. 

Coach - Rebecca Santiago 


Rebecca Santiago is a USFS silver medalist with six years of coaching experience. She trained in New Jersey with Olympic silver medalist Colleen O'Connor and competed in singles from 1997 to 2008. As a coach, she focuses on creating a positive, goal-oriented environment to help her skaters reach their highest level of performance on the ice. She works with all ages and levels on skills, footwork, jumps, spins, and choreography, and has successfully guided students through tests and competitions. She has memberships with USFS, ISI, PSA, and the Skating Club of New York, as well as a B.A. in English and communications from Tufts University. Off the ice, she’s a journalist who specializes in health and psychology.

Coach - Angela To


Angela To has been coaching for nearly 12 years in Oklahoma City, Madrid, and now New York to students from ages 3 and up. She has earned a Bachelor's in Spanish and Political Science, a Master's in International Education and is currently Assistant Director at Columbia University Law School. She has worked with coaches from Holiday on Ice as well as Olympians Brian Orser and Javier Fernández. Level-wised, she has passed regular track Novice moves and Intermediate freestyle. She currently trains and competitively skates with a nationally renowned technical specialist with hopes of passing down what she has learned to future Kristi Yamuguchis and Brian Boitanos. She is deeply grateful how figure skating has provided her with not only a healthy and active lifestyle but also life lessons of discipline, resilience, and grit. She loves sharing her passion for figure skating with children and adults and takes great pride in seeing skaters reach their milestones and goals. 

Coach- Margaret Bodo Dornbaum


Margaret has been coaching for six years. She achieved USFS Pre-Gold level in single skating, USFS Gold Level in Pattern and Free Dance, and USFS International level in Pattern Dance.  Her competitive experience includes USFS National and ISU International competitions.   Margaret is passionate about sharing her knowledge, experience, and discipline gained through her skating with the Riverbank FSC members. She has membership in good standing with USFS, PSA, and Safe Sport, and coaches all ages and levels at Riverbank.  Margaret has supported efforts to expand skating access to people with all abilities. Additional goals include combining her career in Healthcare Administration and Finance at NYPresbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center and her involvement with the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation to establish and develop skating events throughout New York City promoting good health and community.

Our Figure Skating Coaches from Previous Years 


Coach - Rosie Hausmann (2019 - 2021) 

Rosie Hausmann has been skating for twenty years - 13 years competitively and 7 years professionally. At the age of 11 Rosie moved away from home in order to train at Shattuck-St. Mary’s - a boarding school in Minnesota known worldwide for training Olympic athletes. Under the direction of internationally acclaimed figure skating coach Diana Ronayne, Rosie skated her way to a top ten ranking in the USA at Junior Nationals in 2010. She qualified for Midwestern and Eastern Sectional Championships in 2011 and 2012. With a passion for figure skating and American Sign Language, Rosie founded and directed "Skate and Sign", a learn-to-skate program dedicated to teaching deaf children how to skate. Following her competitive career Rosie traveled around the world as a professional figure skater, working for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Willie Bietak Productions, Delice Productions in France, and Ucha-Atayde Entertainment in Mexico. Since moving to New York in 2016 to attend Columbia University and pursue a double major in Architecture and Art History, Rosie has become an Ice Patrol member for the New York Islanders NHL team, while simultaneously coaching for Wollman Rink in Central Park and Figure Skating in Harlem. The 2019-2020 season will be Rosie’s third year with Riverbank Figure Skating Club.  Rosie is a USFSA and PSA member in good standing.

Coach Aaron Singletary (2020 - 2021) 

Aaron Singletary grew up in Pennsylvania skating for Penguin Figure Skating Club and started his national competitive career training with Craig Maurizi. Over the years Singletary has had many internationally revered coaches and singling one or two would be a disservice to the others. Each left a prominent mark on his approach to skating. Aaron earned gold in moves-in-the field as well as freestyle singles. Aaron now coaches primarily in Newburgh, NY at Ice Time Sports Complex. His students include National medalists Jacob Sanchez and Olivia Alexander. He dreams to further his knowledge so that one day he too may be at internationally recognized performer and coach. The 2019 Home season marks his debut with Ice Theatre of New York. 


Coach Janelli Saavedra (2020)

Coach - Vitkoria Chiappa (2018-2019)

Competed on behalf of the Hungarian International Figure Skating Team. She holds three national titles from the Hungarian National Championships and competed in international events such as The Ice Challenge and Coup de Nice, as well as Junior Grand Prix’. Upon her departure from competitive figure skating, she joined Disney on Ice presents Princesses and Heroes. She earned her BFA in acting and BA in liberal music arts, as well as a minor in dance, from Elon University. At Elon she focused on Dance Movement Theory and its transition to the ice, which was the subject of her undergraduate research. She believes in creating a fun and educational environment for skaters of all ages and levels. She strives to push figure skating to its limits, while providing skaters with the tools and foundation they need to have a career in the industry. Member of Professional Skating Association, United States Figure Skating, Hungarian Figure Skating Federation and Actors Equity Association.
